Zero-day guide
Troubleshooting Safari Handoff from iPhone to Mac
Safari web pages opened on your iPhone are not appearing as Handoff suggestions on your Mac's Dock or App Switcher, preventing seamless browsing continuity.
Step 1
Verify Handoff Settings
On your iPhone, go to Settings General AirPlay & Handoff and ensure Handoff is enabled. On your Mac, navigate to System Settings General AirDrop & Handoff and confirm Handoff is turned on.
Step 2
Confirm Connectivity
Ensure both your iPhone and Mac have Bluetooth turned on and are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Handoff relies on proximity and shared network communication.
Step 3
Check iCloud Sign-in
Verify that both devices are signed in to the exact same Apple ID for iCloud. Handoff requires consistent iCloud authentication across all participating devices.
Step 4
Restart Devices
Perform a full restart of both your iPhone and Mac. A simple reboot can often resolve temporary software glitches affecting Continuity features like Handoff.
Step 5
Look for Handoff Indicator
On your Mac, check the right side of the Dock for the Safari Handoff icon (a Safari icon with a small device symbol). On your iPhone, look for the Handoff banner at the bottom of the App Switcher (swipe up and pause).
